We've spent countless hours cataloguing keeps, counting arrow slits, and debating whether a fortified manor house really counts as a castle (it's complicated). Now we're ready to share our findings, our stories, and our slightly unhealthy obsession with medieval architecture.

Why Castles?

Let's be honest: castles are just objectively cool. They're the physical manifestation of "go big or go home" - massive stone structures built to intimidate enemies, impress visitors, and occasionally house the odd dragon (allegedly).

But beyond the dramatic silhouettes and Instagram-worthy towers, castles are windows into the past. Each one in our index tells a story of the people who built it, lived in it, attacked it, and sometimes dramatically lost it in a siege that lasted way longer than anyone planned.
