History

  • The property, originally purchased by Joseph Fouché's heirs in 1829, consisted of a small castle on the bank of a pond with additional land plots.
  • Over successive acquisitions, James de Rothschild expanded his holdings, eventually passing down the château to Guy and Marie-Hélène de Rothschild in 1975.
  • The latter donated the property to the University of Paris.

The Château de Ferrières is considered one of the largest and most luxurious 19th-century châteaux in France.
