Muromachi period (1336-1573), constructed during this time. The castle served as a stronghold for the Hatakeyama clan, a powerful daimyo family that played a significant role in Japanese history. Although its exact construction date is unknown, it is believed to have been built in the mid-Muromachi period.

Architecture

The castle's architectural style is characteristic of Japanese castles from this period, with a combination of wooden and stone structures. The layout features a traditional Japanese donjon (main tower) surrounded by a moat and concentric walls. Unfortunately, only the remains of the entrance gate, 大手門跡, have survived to this day.
