  3. In 1126, Joscelin clashed with Bohemond of Antioch after his arrival, though they reconciled in 1127. However, Zengi took advantage of a succession crisis in Aleppo and became the master of Syria by 1129, beginning wars against the Crusader states, including Edessa.
  4. Joscelin was gravely injured during a siege and died soon after marching his army to relieve the besieged fortress of Kaysun. He was the penultimate ruler of the County of Edessa before its capture by Zengi's son, Nur ad-Din.
