Yılankale, also known as Snake Castle, is a late 12th–13th century Armenian castle located on a rocky hill overlooking the east bank of the Ceyhan River in Adana Province, Turkey.
History
- The castle is believed to have been built during the reign of King Leo I the Magnificent (r. 1198/9–1219) of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
- It was known as Levonkla (Լևոնկլա "Levon's fortress") in Armenian, and its medieval names were also recorded as Kovara and Vaner.
