History

The construction of Komoro Castle began in 1487 and was completed by its architect, 山本勘助 (Yamamoto Kōbō). The castle served as the seat of power for the local daimyō (feudal lord) during the Sengoku period. Although the exact purpose of the castle is unclear, it is believed to have been used as a military stronghold and administrative center.

Architecture

Komoro Castle features a traditional shiro (castle) design with a rectangular keep surrounded by a moat. The castle's architecture is characterized by its use of local materials, such as stone and wood, which were typical of Japanese castles during the Sengoku period. Unfortunately, much of the original structure has been destroyed over time due to natural disasters and wars.
